Courier Mapping

What is courier mapping and how does it work?

As a Shopify merchant, it's possible that you may occasionally input an incorrect carrier name or select **"other" **when fulfilling orders on your Shopify store order page.

When syncing these orders with their respective gateways, Uptrack provides a solution to this problem through its "carrier mapping" option.

With carrier mapping, you can ensure that the correct courier name is sent to the gateways for processing.

For example, if you have set carrier name "X" on your Shopify store but need to send carrier name "Y" to PayPal or Stripe, you can use carrier mapping to make that adjustment.

Here are the steps to access the carrier mapping option in Uptrack:

Step 1: ** Go to **Settings → PayPal Tracking → Sync settings

**Step 2: ** There are two methods available for carrier mapping in Uptrack for your convenience.

1. Courier mapping by courier name:

This is a feature that allows you to easily set your preferred "Shopify carrier name" to be replaced by the corresponding PayPal carrier name. To use this feature, follow these steps:

  • Turn on the **"By courier name" ** option.

  • Enter the **Desired carrier name ** in both boxes provided.

  • Click on the ** "Submit" ** button to save your changes.

  • If you need to add more mappings, click on the "Add courier data" button and repeat the process.

Let's take a closer look at an example:

Suppose you are using the carrier name "FedEx" shipping on your Shopify store. But you want to send the carrier name **"Federal Express" **to paypal.

You can achieve this using the courier mapping feature, simply by following the below steps:

  1. Turn on the "By courier name" option.

  1. Enter "FedEx" in Shopify carrier box.

  1. Enter "Federal Express" in Paypal carrier box.

  1. Click on the "submit" button to save your changes.

Now whenever you (Shopify merchant) sets a "FedEx" as the carrier for any order in your Shopify store, the system will automatically replace it with "Federal Express" when sending the details to PayPal. This helps maintain consistency between the two platforms and ensures a smooth shipping integration.

2. Courier mapping by tracking number:

You can use this option to replace the carrier name with the correct one in PayPal by matching the tracking number. **There are three ways to match it - **

  • "contains" checks if the string has the given match key anywhere inside it.
  • "starts with" checks if the string begins with the given match key.
  • "ends with" checks if the string finishes with the given match key.

Once the match is made, the carrier name will be sent to PayPal automatically.

To use this feature, follow these steps:

  • Turn on the "By Tracking number" option.
  • Choose one of the matching methods: "contains", "starts with", or "ends with"
  • Type in the match key in the second box.
  • Enter the courier name.
  • Click the "submit" button to save your changes.
  • If you want to add more mappings, click "Add tracking data" and repeat the process.

In each case, once a match is found between the tracking number and the specified match key, the corresponding carrier name will be automatically sent to PayPal.

Let's take a closer look at an example:

Let's say you have a tracking number** "123456789" **and you want to map it to the correct carrier name in PayPal. Here are some examples of how the matching options work:

  1. "Contains" match:

  • Let's say you have a tracking number "123456XY9".

  • Set the matching option to "contains”

  • Set the match key "XY"

  • Set the desired carrier name “DHL”

  • Click on **Submit ** button.

Now, For the tracking number like "123456XY9" which contains the match key "XY", the carrier name “DHL” will be sent to PayPal.

  1. "Starts with" match:

  • Let's say you have a tracking number "123456XY9".

  • Set the matching option to "Starts with”

  • Set the match key "123"

  • Set the desired carrier name “DHL”

  • Click on **Submit ** button.

Now, For the tracking number like "123456XY9" which contains the match key "123", the carrier name “DHL” will be sent to PayPal.

  1. "Ends with" match:

  • Let's say you have a tracking number "123456XY9".

  • Set the matching option to "Ends with”

  • Set the match key "Y9"

  • Set the desired carrier name “DHL”

  • Click on **Submit ** button.

Now, For the tracking number like "123456XY9" which contains the match key "Y9", the carrier name “DHL” will be sent to PayPal.
